| Lovie B. Carter, age 81, of Plano, Texas passed away January 14, 2008, in Frisco, Texas. She was born February 28, 1926, in Springfield, Tennessee, the daughter of James and Vera (Osborne) Barbee. She graduated from High School in Springfield, Tennessee, and attended Central State University, formerly Wilberforce University, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree. She later received her Master’s Degree from The Ohio State University. She resided in Columbus, Ohio for many years where she taught school and retired. She later moved to Springfield, Ohio where she was a Nursing Home Administrator. Lovie married Amos A. Carter, Jr. and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church for many years. She recently relocated to Plano in July 2007, to be together with her son and daughter. She is survived by her children, Sumner Carter and Patricia Carter-Franklin; grandchildren, Isadore Carter, Dominique Franklin-Vincent, Rachel D. S. Franklin, Joshua Carter and Maya Franklin; great-grandson, Jovyn Franklin-Burse; brothers, Paul and Virgil Barbee; niece, Tina Ellis; many other nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Vera; husband of twenty-eight years, Amos; brothers, James and Isadore Barbee; and sisters, Martha Ellis, Carrie Ashmore, Gladys Holland and Frances Saunders. |
